February 10 through June 5, 2006
Opening reception on February 10, 5 – 8 pm in conjunction with 2nd Friday Art Night

A student at the University of Central Arkansas, in Conway, Lily Kuonen is now making her mark on the art scene. Kuonen’s upcoming exhibit features her recent portfolio of large, well-executed oil paintings. Her compositions, vivid and dreamlike, juxtapose harsh angles with soft curvilinear forms and definitive lines with organic textures.

“The primary focus of my work has come to concern many issues surrounding femininity and society,” Kuonen states. “I rely on my images to create an almost automatic relationship with the viewer, and this relationship draws them into a conversation of sorts.” Kuonen’s work was published in the Oxford American (January, 2005) and she was a featured artist in The Libertine (winter, 2004).
