Exploring the Arkansas Delta: The Italians of Sunnyside

With Chef Jacquelyn Compton of The Pizzeria

$60 per person ($50 for museum members) • Tickets sold online starting Aug. 17 at 1 pm

2020 History is Served explores cultures, communities, and cuisine of the Arkansas Delta. The second in our series takes a look at the Italian communities that settled around Lake Village at the end of the 19th century. It’s been 125 years since the first Italians arrived at Sunnyside Plantation, answering a call for laborers and changing the cultural landscape of the Delta.

Chef Jacquelyn Compton will create a modern meal inspired by this community, available as curbside pick up, and the museum will host a Zoom program that evening that explores this slice of history a little deeper.

Sponsors: Arkansas Rice Federation, Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas and the Historic Arkansas Musuem Foundation.
