7th Ever Nog-off

A friendly competition for the best eggnog in town

December 9, 5 – 8 pm

During 2nd Friday Art Night

Free

Live music by Meshugga Klezmer Band

Historic Arkansas Museum’s 7th Ever Nog-off is a culinary celebration of a favorite holiday drink, and friendly competition for the best eggnog in town. From a 185-year-old recipe handed down 7 generations to concoctions with a modern twist, the only way to determine a winner is to sample them all.

Two awards are given. The People’s Choice goes to the eggnog that receives the most votes from our discerning visitors who have chosen astutely for the past six years. The Taster’s Choice goes to the nog that gets the nod from our celebrity tasters.

The 7th Ever Nog-off will include new entries, including Phil Brandon’s eggnog spiked with his new Rock Town Distillery’s Young Arkansas Bourbon and OMnoG by Drue Patton of Argenta Arts Foundation. After a 2010 victory by Tandra Watkins of Ashley’s at the Capital Hotel, new contestant David Burnette of the Capital Bar and Grill will see if he can keep the honors in the hotel family. Also returning this year for another run at the title will be Mary Beth Ringgold of Copper Grill, Tracy Sterling of JAVA Roasting Express @ Wright & Chester and Bridget Farris, with her old Kentucky family recipe.

As always, after sampling the various eggnogs, our guests to the free event will choose the People’s Choice winner of the Nog-off. In addition, we will have Celebrity Judges, who in a blind tasting will choose their favorite. The celebrity tasters will be well-known bon vivants Lawrence Hamilton, Historic Arkansas Museum Board Member and Broadway star, Rex Nelson, president of Arkansas' Independent Colleges and Universities and Kat Robinson, author of Eat Arkansas, the Arkansas Times’ blog for food lovers.
