Paintings by Glenda McCune
March 10, 2017-May 7, 2017
Artist and educator Glenda McCune wants to take her viewers on a trip down memory lane. Born in Hamburg, Arkansas, in the 1950s, her nostalgic paintings of cotton picking, days spent fishing and carefully observed tenant houses evoke times past. Her aim is not only to produce pretty pictures, but to leave a record of what life was like in the South before suburban sprawl homogenized the rural landscape. McCune, who taught art at Jacksonville High School for more than thirty years, enjoys creating in many media, but oil painting is her favorite.
Paintings by Glenda McCune continues in the SECOND FLOOR GALLERY through May 7, 2017.
