Colors of the Palette and Natural Machines
The Art of Kirk Jordan, Alison Parsons and Lauren Wilcox
May 11 through August 5, 2007
Free opening reception on May 11, 5-8 pm in conjunction with downtown's 2nd Friday Art Night
This trio of artists offers varying styles, mediums, content and approaches to interact with the viewer. Alison Parson’s acrylic and Dutch gold leaf paintings of flora jump off the canvas in electric shocks of color. Lauren Wilcox’s whimsical works are as much machine as sculpture. Kirk Jordan’s photography could best be described as vivid, stylized scenes from nature.
Historic Arkansas Museum is one of several downtown locations that will keep its doors open to the public until 8 p.m. for an evening of culture, entertainment and shopping. Visitors can start at Historic Arkansas where there is plenty of free parking, and later catch the trolley to visit other participating venues. The Museum Store, featuring the best of Arkansas-made arts and crafts, will be open.
