This exhibit marks the 35th year of the Mid-Southern Watercolorists' annual exhibit. The juried exhibit drew 165 submissions, 40 of which were selected for the show. Springfield Art Museum director Jerry Berger served as juror of this year’s exhibition. Berger awarded prizes in several categories with the Gold Medal Award as the overall winner. Artists and the public will learn of the awards at the April 8 reception.

The works included in the exhibition demonstrate the varied techniques, styles and uses of watercolor, as well as varied subject matter. Mid-Southern Watercolorists--a group of approximately 250 members--strives to “elevate the stature of watercolor as an important creative, permanent medium.” It is also “a sharing, teaching, learning group” that offers programs and workshops, according to exhibit coordinator and MSW member Fran Otten.
