BODY/ECOLOGY: Daniella Napolitano and Carmen Alexandria Thompson

October 13, 2017 - January 7, 2018

Multi-talented Little Rock artists Daniella Napolitano and Carmen Alexandria Thompson examine deep content beneath the graphic aesthetic of printmaking.

Using linocut and screen printing, Daniella Napolitano makes careful studies of her animal subjects before cutting into the block. Only after she understands an animal’s anatomy and relationship to its environment can she create the clean, precise lines and punchy colors that give each subject its own personality.

The complexity of the human mind-body connection fascinates Carmen Alexandria Thompson and inspires her creative exploration of the beauty found in tragedy. Thompson uses linocut, silkscreen, Xerox lithography, and chine-collé to create layered surfaces depicting struggles with disease and human frailty.

BODY/ECOLOGY continues in the SECOND FLOOR GALLERY through January 7, 2018.
