This exhibition, curated by the Arkansas Arts Council staff, provides a look at the work of selected Arts Council fellowship recipients dating from 1988 to 2011, not all-inclusive. The artists represented express their talents through a range of visual forms including photorealistic painting, representational drawing, non-objective drawing, digital and digitally enhanced photography, printmaking and woodcarving.

Through this exhibition and the fellowship program, the Arkansas Arts Council supports individual artists in our communities by providing opportunity for them to create, display and sell their work. The artist’s contribution to a culturally rich environment provides additional value for our living and working lives, infuses the education curriculum with opportunities for critical thinking and stimulates our children to think and work creatively in all academic areas.

The Arkansas Arts Council began making grants to individual artists who live and work within the state in 1986. Each year, the council selects a different category of funding for individual artists, including the areas of Literary Arts, Performing Arts and Visual Arts.
