The Arkansas Foodways Initiative allows Historic Arkansas Museum to delve deeper into Arkansas foodways and provide even more programming around our food heritage. The History is Served Dinner Series debuting in 2018 will be the first of such programming—and is made possible by the Historic Arkansas Museum Foundation, donations from people like you and by the support of our 2018 History is Served sponsor, Ben E. Keith Foodservice Distributors.

The debut dinner for our History is Served series appropriately dives into the history, culture and cuisine of Arkansas’s first people, the Quapaw Tribe. Gilbert Alaquinez, executive chef of 42 Bar and Table, and Chef Michael Selig, director of Food, Beverage and Events, will take inspiration from Quapaw food and table traditions, focusing on the ingredients that create a Quapaw meal, to prepare a modern interpretation for our dinner.

Guests will begin with cocktails and a look at the Native American Gallery before being seated at a communal harvest table. This shared dinner will be an immersive way to learn more about the Quapaw’s heritage foodways.

Tickets are $45 ($35 for museum members) and will be available starting 9 a.m. January 16 online or by calling 501-324-9351.
