Historic Arkansas Museum - 200 E. Third Street, Little Rock AR

Additional Event Details

Explore Arkansas’s heritage foodways with this unique dinner series that features local chefs who take inspiration from our past. The third dinner celebrates the history, culture and cuisine of German and Scottish settlers in Arkansas’s Territorial period.

Chef Shanna Merriweather and Capi Peck of Trio’s Restaurant will take inspiration from research on the period provided by the museum’s Arkansas Made team to create a modern interpretation of Territorial cuisine.

Guests will begin in the c. 1827 Hinderliter Grog Shop—Little Rock’s oldest building and a running tavern in the early 19th century owned by Jesse Hinderliter of German descent—where they will enjoy appetizers and a German ale created by Stone’s Throw Brewing using historical research of the local beer and available ingredients and techniques of the time period.

Following a brief talk about the development of the beer, guests will move into the Museum Center for a seated dinner at a harvest table, sharing a meal with the other dinner guests. This shared dinner will be an immersive way to learn more about Territorial foodways, the influence of Scottish and German immigrants on what and how we eat, Arkansas’s food heritage and the museum’s Arkansas Made research on historic foodways.

Tickets are $45 ($35 for museum members) and will be available starting 9 a.m. June 11 online only.
