This carte-de-visite, or visiting card, is of a Federal officer taken in occupied Little Rock during the Civil War. The man's kepi insignia identifies him as a cavalryman (crossed sabers) in the "1st" Regiment.
The back of the carte contains a photographer's mark which reads "B.S. Alford's Photographic Rooms No. 204 East Markham St., Corner of Cumberland St., Little Rock, Ark. Photgrapher and Publisher 'Arkansaw Traveler'. Additional Pictures of this 25 Cents Each."
