This carte-de-visite, or visiting card, is of a Federal officer taken in occupied Little Rock during the Civil War. The man's kepi insignia of crossed rifles identifies him as an infantryman with the "1st" Regiment and he is wearing an 1872 Officer’s Fatigue Blouse. The back of the carte contains a photographer's mark which reads "B.S. Alford's Photographic Rooms No. 204 East Markham St., Corner of Cumberland St., Little Rock, Ark. Photographer and Publisher 'Arkansaw Traveler'. Additional Pictures of this 25 Cents Each."
