LITTLE ROCK (April 28, 2015) – Historic Arkansas Museum will host the 42nd Annual Territorial Fair on Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This popular annual event is a fun and free opportunity for adults and children of all ages to experience what life was like during Arkansas’s Territorial era. Living history performances, blacksmith demonstrations, historical dances and pioneer games will be happening on the museum’s historic grounds, a preserved and meticulously recreated section of an early downtown Little Rock neighborhood.  Read More

LITTLE ROCK (May 4, 2015) – Historic Arkansas Museum will host the opening reception of the Arkansas Arts Council curated exhibition (Everyday) Interpretations: Cindy Arsaga, Joe Morzuch and Adam Posnak. Historic Arkansas Museum Hosts Log Cabin Repair Workshop

LITTLE ROCK (Jan. 2, 2015) – Historic Arkansas Museum will host a log cabin repair and restoration workshop, March 9 through 13, on the museum’s log house grounds. The workshop is offered through the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies and Heritage Preservation Resources and costs $500. To register, participants should go to www.CampbellCenter.org. The workshop will consist of two to three hours of daily lectures, and three to four hours a day repairing a log cabin. Lecture topics consist of: decay and deterioration causes; installing logs and making notches; appropriate finishes/coatings for log buildings; daubing do’s and don’ts; checks, cracks and other log maintenance issues; foundations, roofs, moisture and the big picture.   Read More

LITTLE ROCK (January 27, 2015) – Historic Arkansas Museum is proud to present two new contemporary art exhibits on February 13, 2015. John Harlan Norris: Public Face opens in the Trinity Gallery for Arkansas Artists and Lisa Krannichfeld: She opens in the Second Floor Gallery. There will be a free opening reception for both exhibits on February 13, 5 – 8 p.m., in conjunction with downtown Little Rock’s 2nd Friday Art Night. Live music will be provided by Whale Fire. The band has been described as “One of the finest young local bands to emerge lately” by the Arkansas Times and Arkansas Democrat Gazette described their unique music as “Indie pop tracks, with an expansive and ambitious feel.” Historic Arkansas Museum’s Year of Arkansas Beer continues with Stone’s Throw Brewing’s Chocolate Stout.
